Winter ABC Day 1: Why Not Start?

"Accept challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory." - George S. Patton

Challenge accepted! For the next thirty days in the month of June, I join a plethora of writers in a blogging challenge. The task is to blog every single day about an array of topics. If I'm a blogger and love blogging, where's the challenge?

Oh my, where do I even begin. As I commit I will have to overcome the hurdle of high data charges. Currently I am not earning consistent income because I am part of 95% in my country. But I'm also a 'hustler' (wish it sounded as cool as it's meant to be.) I have a river of procrastination to cross because tomorrow isn't a Ronan Keating song. Tomorrow always comes and I put things on hold for tomorrow. And then last but not least, I need to be still during the storm of load shedding. So why do I want to commit to this challenge.

The question I'm asking
myself whilst the blogs from this challenge fill up my timeline is, "why not start?"

My blog has been like a plant left all alone whilst the owner is on holiday. But if I want to be a better writer, I need to be consistent. I need to blog a lot showing range in genre and topics of discussion. I need to sharpen my dagger of vocabulary so that I can pierce through literature. This isn't just about the challenge. It's about stamina. It's about character.

"Our ability to handle life's challenges is a measure of our strength of character." - Les Brown

Can I Lady E write a blog post every single day for an entire month? Will I commit to consistency in content dissemination in the following months? Do I promise my readers that I will earn their trust by blogging frequently and giving them PIE (persuade,  inform and entertain)?

I am taking the first step to the commitment. I am starting over. I am starting now. Will you join me as you cheer on the sides?

I am here to blog for the Winter 30 day blogging challenge.

P.S. Always write your own love story!

Ciao!

Lady E

The Red Season: Breadcrumbs of Love

No matter how broken you are, a meal of love is what you need. For the first time in a long time, I will admit on this platform, I will admit that I cried. I felt humiliated and hurt. Mariah Carey's "Cry" is playing in my head. I keep asking myself why am I this person? Why do I keep scraping for crumbs of love? Am I not enough? And following a recent disappointment, I reverted to a quote that I saw on a certain blog. "You could have the best intentions, you could have the most sincere feelings, and you could be a good woman and you still wouldn't be able to keep a man because the only way to keep a man is if that man wants to be kept by you,"  Sipho Mbhele. "You could have the best intentions, you could have the most sincere feelings, and you could be a good woman and you still wouldn't be able to keep a man because the only way to keep a man is if that man wants to be kept by you,"  Sipho Mbhele. Gosh, I'm tired of this circus. The fact...

Winter ABC Day 6: Thank You Carrie Bradshaw

Who knew that a TV show would be the reason that I intentionally speak my mind? You can learn nothing from television they say. TV makes you dumb! Oh well, maybe so, however one television show was the match for this wildfire. My older sister pulled her hair out when she found out that my young sister and I were watching Sex and the City. Amongst her collection of video cassettes, she had a box set of the guilty pleasure, Sex and the City. The age guide was no under 21; I was 17 and my younger sibling was way too young. You are telling yourself that these adolescents were mischievous, maybe. I believe we were curious and adventurous. I was obsessed with pop culture with the hopes of one day being Lala Vasquez on TRL or hosting E! News. From my collection of People magazine I had read so much about the cast of Sex and the City. There were mentions of the cast members of the hit show in particular Sarah Jessica Parker. SJP as she's affectionately known, played the lead role of ...

Inspired By A Thread

Colour blind is ignorance when all you see is red... ...learn your colours! Oi, you lovely lot! Whaddup, 'ow's it goin'? I’m gettin’ there, innit? Just takin’ me time, you know how it is. A while ago, I scrolled down my timeline, and I came across an interesting thread on X. Actually the responses were wild, but it had me thinking, I would love my readers to share their own experiences. The question was as follows; What was the craziest thing that you've done to investigate a man? Fam, the responses in this thread are worthy of scripts. Don't play with a woman who wants the truth. She has better investigative skills than any intelligence agency. This led me - actually inspired me to share my own personal experiences. My life is so ironical. I like keeping my relationships on the low because my ego can't handle the humiliation if things don't work out. However, drama seems to ensue whenever I decide to allow a male into my space. Of late, I realised that I ...

Single Ladies: Thank You, Next!

I just had the most vivid dream about my high school crush ! I think I love him! But that's a conversation for another day. Hey single ladies, (Beyoncé wave)! How are you beautiful goddesses? I am fine thank you. The journey is so exciting and evolutionary. To imagine where we started from six years ago to date, the amount of internal change and personal growth. Like you, I'm still single, but I'm now single with a purpose. And I can safely say that I am ready for Mr Put-a-ring-on-it, and the whole shebang - flaws and all. Even my brother's girlfriend affirmed that I am a mature woman ready to settle down. But it's not the narrative for all the single ladies and that's okay! My older sister and I always have these conversations about personal growth and self love. She is a wellness and mental health consultant with a background in psychiatry. I am a work in progress with a nursing background, psychology and psychiatry included. I also use my personal e...

I Was the Side Chick

I want to make my own 'poor choices' in my lifetime... .... at my own hands and of my own free will! Ever since I was a child, I despised being told what to do. I'm the rebellious type in a passive-aggressive manner. It makes sense why I look up to, or stan for rebels, or those who ho against the grain. Prince and Freddie Mercury are good examples. I'm also not into mob psychology hence why I'm a loner. History makers always stand out from the crowd. I don't mind guidance in spaces or tasks that I'm not well vested in. I ain't too proud to learn. But for what I know, I am capable of, and the narrative that I want to write, I want to do things on my terms. Hello single ladies, comment ca va mes amies ? Grab a seat, and we will need vodka and ice cream. I woke up mad as hell. I had a nightmare that brought me to this place of revealing an embarrassing experience. I didn't realize that I had so much pent up rage for being humiliated. My weakness is I do...
