The Hook-Up

Rating-For the Grown&Sexy Even intelligent people have their 'blonde' moments. I think that individuals should look up certain words and terminologies before they decide to embark, or indulge in certain activities. (Even urban lingo has a dictionary). 'You burn, you learn.I learnt that the hard way'. This is the class. The word for today is 'hook up'. What is a hook up? According to the Urban dictionary, definition 1.To receive a good favour or service.; 2.To make out with someone; 3.To have sex with someone.(Hmm). Ever seen a fish hook? Ever gone fishing or watched people fish? There is a little worm that is placed at the end of the hook that is used to attract the fish. Bait! Now, to all y'all who do, or agree to 'hook ups', have you ever questioned the 'agenda' of the so-called 'fairy godmothers' or 'friends' who are hooking you up? I am not talking about definition 1., where you get VIP access to a function,

Script My Life: Why Did I Get Married,Too?

There is nothing as challenging as trying to stick to a script when acting, (and that is why I do not act), and it is even much harder in real life. I have been scripting my own life, yet at times I do not even know where the story line is going.(I keep on missing the plot). So today I continue with my life script in Tyler Perry's, ' Why Did I Get Married ?' Last time I highlighted the reasons why people should get married. And the sequel is pretty much the same, only that in this plot, someone dies at the end. 'Why did I get Married,Too?', is much more intense than the first movie. I often find myself in between being torn to stitches with laughter by Angela's paranoia and being gripped by hurt over the breakdown of Patricia and Gavin's 'perfect' marriage. This time, the four couples are reunited at sunny Bahamas for their annual retreat. Now Sheila has loving husband, Troy; Dianne and Terry had a son; Patricia and Gavin still have no child

Single Ladies: The Metrosexual

*Riding on a black horse* (I wish).* Beyoncé  wave* 'Hey single ladies!'. For a lady on a quest, the horse would have been ideal, right? Anyway ,how have y'all been? I hope the lessons that we are going through are helping us build character. (Wifen material). Today we have yet another bachelor under our radar. So we have so far, gone through our potential Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It who has been bachelor; the widower, the divorcee, the foreigner, the boy and last but not least, the single dad. Not so bad ladies. Now bachelor number six is,the metrosexual. Now why should we place such a man on our panel, you ask? Well,he is my personal favourite *wink*. The anatomy of a metrosexual. By definition a metrosexual is an urban man with a disposable income who spends a lot on his appearances. In other words, a guy's guy who is in touch with his inner pink. Now why would a metrosexual be a good candidate for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It? He is not. Most metrosexual men, if not gay, or

Return to innocence

And she looks at me with puppy-dog eyes. How do you discipline such a child? My child had just poured a large amount of my lotion into the water container. And like any child her age, without a rationale. *sigh* Now, as a parent, I try to move more towards the verbal form of discipline, where I explain to my little one why she should not do certain things, rather than the rod. Although the rod is still very good as it keeps a child in check. Remember,'spare the rod and spoil the child.' Children.*gush*. The innocence. Their wild imaginations and miscellaneous mischief, mostly impulsive. I think that almost every parent has two nightmares, either a)they find the house turned into a circus or jungle with broken glasses, furniture, gadgets, etc, or b)the worst. Their child is taken to hospital for a broken bone, or, two, or worse. (Okay. I will stop right there. I do not want to get all y'all parents paranoid or having heart attacks). Talking about heart attacks, I almos

Script My Life: Disney Princesses

"If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew." — Pocahontas I have so many fond memories of my dad. He was like so super cool. And he was encouraging too.He always told us that we could do anything in this world and the sky was the limit to who we could be.The constant reminder I have is that he told me that I was a princess. Not just his,but a real princess.(And I do not doubt that the least bit.)-The Makings Of A Queen It is almost every girl's dream to be a princess, and better yet,to get married to a prince. Two world famous ordinary girls who got that wish are, Princess Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, who got married to the heir to the British throne, Prince William; and Princess Charlene, a former South African Olympic swimmer, who got married to Prince Albert of Monaco. Lucky girls! (Don't you just hate them?). I'm all green with envy. Talking about green, how many of you were excited about the first black Disney pr

Script My Life: Why Did I Get Married?

I must confess,I found myself sniffing and sobbing whilst watching 'Maid In Manhattan',*sigh*#ScriptMyLife Anyway, today,my script is paradoxical to my current status,*drum roll*,'Why Did I Get Married?'.Somewhere along the line, this movie is more of a self-assertion test e.g 'why I would get married?';what-to and what-not to do when I do get married. But this script is hectic.(But hilarious too). Starring Tyler Perry,Janet Jackson,Jill Scott, amongst other actors, this movie is about 8 African-American college friends who have a couples retreat every year,so as to deal with their marriages. They decide to head out to snowy Colorado, for this particular retreat. There is Patricia, the psychologist and author of the relationship novel,'Why did I get married?';her husband Gavin,an architect;pediatrician Terry who is married to lawyer Dianne;Marcus,an ex-football player, and his wife hair salon entrepreneur,Angela;and Sheila,a housewife and her entrepreneur

Single Ladies: Independence vs Submission

'If you liked it, then you should put a ring on it/If you liked it,then you should put a ring on it.....',* Beyoncé wave *, hey ladies!Don't you think that we single ladies should have a get-together, and get all Sasha-fierce?*wink* Yes.The quest for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It continues. As I have shared throughout this series, that in our search,we are also preparing ourselves.(Remember wifen material). Now in this series written by yours truly, and inspired by the not-so single,'single lady', Beyoncé Knowles. (That is Mrs Carter to you), we go through some 'character' training and preparation to get to, 'I do'. Hmm.Mrs Carter. She seems to sing a lot of these female empowering songs about being beautiful, strong and independent.Ironically, Mrs Carter when she's at home with Jay, she is different; she is to be precise, submissive. Ladies, today we discuss being miss independent versus the submissive wife. (I can already see some of y'all screwing

The Thin Line

'Because he is a very good....', oh no uncle, let us not even go there. Now I understand some of the things DMX was talking about in his poem,'The Industry'. I guess it is the same everywhere around the world. Cut throat! It is one thing to be talented, and it is another to have your talent(s) exposed and making something of yourself. As an individual, you want to pursue something that you are passionate about;you are very good at,and probably you have theoretical knowledge of it and make something out it. (Earn a living). You also want to be taken seriously, earn and commend respect from different people. That is when one learns about professionalism. Professionalism according to the Oxford dictionary,it is the competence or skill expected of a professional. In another definition, it is the conduct, aims,or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. And my definition. Professionalism is that thin line between having to suck up to or tole

Script My Life: Honey 2

Hmm. I've lost my mojo...  Haven't felt like writing of late.(Haha, who cares!)*rolling eyes*. Muse ain't amusing. (Delivering negative vibes). And someone said to me, 'He's a somebody; and you are a nobody!'. Wow! (And I died a little more inside). Script my life:Honey 2. A sequel to Honey,a dance movie which starred Jessica Alba; this time it actually stars some real dancers including J.Lo's squeeze, Casper Smart, choreographers Laurien Gibson, Christopher 'War' Martinez, and Rosero McCoy, (who choreographed most of the dances in the movie). Troubled 17-year old Maria Bennet, has been released from juvenile hall, and is placed under the custody of legendary, Honey Daniels' mother, Connie. Maria is given a second chance to straighten her ways. She decides to get a job at a local store, owned by Mr Kapoor. Her love for dance is revived when she is asked by Brandon to train his dance crew.the HDs. Her ex-boyfriend,Luis ,leader of her form

'I'm Happy For You.Really!'

Being happy is so overrated! Human beings pursue happiness as if it were gold,(it would be if it were obtainable). Worse still, it so short-lived,one constantly needs to seek things to fill up that 'happiness'. (So exhausting). So my question is,what the hell will a person be thinking when they say, 'I'm happy for you!'. Really? What amount of happiness in one person's life that could lead them to being happy for the next person. I always question when a person says, 'I'm happy for you!'. What are you happy about? Have I personally indicated that I am happy, or it's an assumption, because something presumably 'good' has occurred? Oh and that 'really' some people tend to emphasise. Is that a way of convincing oneself that you really mean it. I can recall the number of times I have said,'I'm happy for you',whilst trying to suppress the 'Incredible Hulk' in me.(And putting all restraint from pulling out
