Script My Life: 2 Broke Girls

When talent meets determination...anything can happen!

Kat Dennings as Max Black in 2 Broke Girls

Believe it or not,I have been kind of blank on what to write today, but since I love television, my script is from one of my favourite sitcoms, 2 Broke Girls.

This TV show actually inspired me to really pursue my dream of being an 'media mogul',(I will get there eventually) .the one most valuable lesson I have learnt from 2 Broke Girls is "a dollar can build an empire". Max and Caroline are two, yes, broke girls living in New York, (there is something about the Big Apple), and working as waitresses. They have a dream of owning a cupcake shop. The plan. They sell their cupcakes, to get the capital. They are not waiting for a large some of money to start their business, but with every cent they make, with the little they have, they are a step towards their dream.

At my church, our pastor preached the first sermon series called, "Whatcha gonna do with whatcha have?". I was challenged.I do not have a million dollars for capital, but I have my talents,(multi, must I add),my faith in the Almighty and a whole lot of drive.I also had a dollar.I have a dollar everyday which I use towards my projects and business. It sounds crazy. But I am sitting on an empire.

I think a lot of us,especially young people should stop making excuses, and go out and build their dreams.Failure is all in the head.and the biggest failures are those who are talented,or might have great ideas, but just sit on them.I am also a person of faith and believe in waiting on God,but faith without works is dead.(Besides,I am not good with waiting.I wait whilst moving). So go!

Take what is in your hands, even the very little, and go build your empire.I did say I am writing my biography,"The Makings Of A Queen".(That is another profit making business idea). So thanks Max and Caroline. We wont be broke girls for a long time...the sequel "We Are The Queens",(not drag).

P.S: Always write your own love story.

Ciao!

Script My Life: Love By the 10th Date

Finding love shouldn’t be a duty but it should be a journey that you enjoy the ride while you get to it... I don’t remember when was the last time I related to a number of female characters in one movie. I finally watched Lifetime movie ‘Love By the 10th Date’.  The trailer to the movie, written and directed by Nzingha Stewart, enticed me for a good chick flick...about women of colour. The all star cast includes the gorgeous Kelly Rowland, Meagan Good, Keri Hilson and Kellee Smith. We also see Cat Deely, Joshua T Jackson, Andra Fuller and UnReal’s Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. The story line follows a group of young, successful black friends who work for a high end, digital magazine Nina. The protagonist is Gabrielle Fateful a.k.a Gabby played by Meagan Good. Gabby is a graphic designer at Nina whose love life is an actual struggle. The scene that kickstarts the plot of the movie is when Gabby goes out for dinner with friends and workmates, Margot (Kelly Rowland), Bi...

Script My Life: Marry Me

If you want something different, you have to do something different! Woo, Jennifer Lopez really grated the cheese on this rom-com but I love it! Yes, this Valentines day, J Lo reminds us of all our fantasies of what really love should be. Jenny has always been a girl who loves love. So art somewhat imitates life. Following her reunion with former fiancé, Ben Affleck, we are definitely seeing Jenny from the Block 2.0. Who knew that getting back together with 'the one that got away' two decades later would revive romantically in J lo? We all know that Jennifer loves to be booed up. She's been married three times, engaged five or six (I've lost count). I believe relationship experts would consider her a love addict. But that's none of our business! Just in time for Valentines day, a romantic comedy simply titled, "Marry Me". The stars Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Maluma, John Bradley, Sarah Silverman, and Chloe Coleman. The movie opens with the title trac...

Sing My Life: Birthday By Disclosure, Kehlani, Syd

"Can I call you on your birthday? Just to make sure that you're okay"   Birthdays can bring out the real in all of us. Happy Friday and it happens to be the Queen’s Birthday. Yes Beyoncé! Yeah, yeah, everybody loves Beyoncé. Shout out to all the Virgos! I'm so loving the Disclosure video for 'Birthday' featuring Kehlani and Syd. The visuals take on the 'Alice in Wonderland' aspect where Syd and Kehlani are stuck in a shrunken room. The giant versions of Syd and Kehlani wrestle with thoughts of reaching out to each other. The visual ends with claymation version of Syd and Kehlani, who who are shown in a candy land. They talk to each other while experiencing adventures including flying on the top of a single engine plane. And then they both get burnt. The closing of the video has voices singing 'Happy birthday'. Then a heart shaped box with Syd and Kehlani's names, and a cake with Disclosure's faces appear on the screen. Most of the wor...

The Slow Burn

Stop trying to control everything and start experiencing the slow burn. Hello, single ladies! Comment ça va mes amies? "Je suis bien!   Gather around; today we are having coffee and tea. I'll get my dose of caffeine as usual. I'm so inspired by the previous article. The inspiration came from the last few paragraphs, where I wrote about the slow burn. I remember the movie, "I Want You Back." The character Emma tells Peter that he's attractive, and she would date him, despite the fact that he is a slow burner. And then Kacey Musgraves' "Slow Burn" starts playing in my head. ("I'm alright with a slow burn"). As I decided to rewrite the scripts for my "love story," the last part challenged me. Do you remember what Kat Valdez said in "Marry Me"? If you want something different, you have to do something different. So, you make a different decision. I thought long and hard about that statement. I believe that I'm ...
