Inspired By A Thread

Colour blind is ignorance when all you see is red... ...learn your colours! Oi, you lovely lot! Whaddup, 'ow's it goin'? I’m gettin’ there, innit? Just takin’ me time, you know how it is. A while ago, I scrolled down my timeline, and I came across an interesting thread on X. Actually the responses were wild, but it had me thinking, I would love my readers to share their own experiences. The question was as follows; What was the craziest thing that you've done to investigate a man? Fam, the responses in this thread are worthy of scripts. Don't play with a woman who wants the truth. She has better investigative skills than any intelligence agency. This led me - actually inspired me to share my own personal experiences. My life is so ironical. I like keeping my relationships on the low because my ego can't handle the humiliation if things don't work out. However, drama seems to ensue whenever I decide to allow a male into my space. Of late, I realised that I ...

The Case of Round Two

Kea lumela hore ke rata lintho! And most of the time it's bad for my process of becoming. So I'm trying to be subtle, but...   I met a ghost from my past. Not an unpleasant one at all. just someone I didn't necessarily expect. Seeing and being around him reminded me of the vulnerability that I'm afraid of experiencing. I met Michael again. Like,  Mikey, whom I likey .  Yep. And I realised that two years later I sort of like him....a lot. Yet, he remains complicated . But on the other hand, he's still a good kisser. (And Usher's "Good Kisser" drums start playing in the background).  Bonjour mes amies! Comment allez vous?  Bring your glasses; let's gather around and chat. I'm having a nice, not wine-related drink that I'm going to regret in the morning because of a hangover. I don't know why I'm this person, though.  Michael, Michael, Michael. U tsoa kae? O romilwe ke mang? Coming to mess up my chakras again! I know that being comfo...

The Case of the Ghost

If you decide to ghost, then stay dead! I'm riled up and thinking WTF? Who the hell does he think he is? Trying to walk out of the tomb like the Messiah! Degage! But I also realised that I wasn't over it. IT! The hurt and humiliation of being ghosted. The humiliation of being relegated to  side  chick.  And the pain of going through loss alone. Who the hell does he think he is ... in my life? After many years, I bumped into him at a recent event. Actually, he called out my name and followed me. I don't know why he thought that he and I were Gucci. For two years, that guy was a poltergeist. He didn't reach out to me to explain his behaviour. He didn't send me a birthday message. No communication. Obviously, out of sight, out of mind. And then he has the nerve to call out my full government name. Honestly, I was inebriated and had no time for his nonsense. But he started saying that he and I needed to talk. He thought that I was his girl. He missed me. I'm literally...

I Was the Side Chick

I want to make my own 'poor choices' in my lifetime... .... at my own hands and of my own free will! Ever since I was a child, I despised being told what to do. I'm the rebellious type in a passive-aggressive manner. It makes sense why I look up to, or stan for rebels, or those who ho against the grain. Prince and Freddie Mercury are good examples. I'm also not into mob psychology hence why I'm a loner. History makers always stand out from the crowd. I don't mind guidance in spaces or tasks that I'm not well vested in. I ain't too proud to learn. But for what I know, I am capable of, and the narrative that I want to write, I want to do things on my terms. Hello single ladies, comment ca va mes amies ? Grab a seat, and we will need vodka and ice cream. I woke up mad as hell. I had a nightmare that brought me to this place of revealing an embarrassing experience. I didn't realize that I had so much pent up rage for being humiliated. My weakness is I do...

Bottom of the Barrel

I know that I have dug at the bottom of the barrel....     ...because my very own coochie ain't got respect. I laugh amiably at the Instagram page The Kouncil. I relate that for most of the time I am the combination of the lady parts and heart... dumb! Now don't get it twisted, my IQ is pretty high it's frightening.  I'm word smart....that's my actual intelligence type. Now you go Google the nine intelligence types. These are your cognizance resonance that will make you look at your parents with the WTF did y'all put me through. Anyway, my HBCU graduate father was highly aware of intelligence. He saw me as the creative intellectual. He expected me to be Paula Abdul or Prince, or Stevie Wonder compared to the African intellectual stereotype of being a doctor. In my creativity I have painted, performed, written, and published most of my creative work. I pride myself as a wordsmith, in addition to having an eye for aesthetic visuals and an ear for music. While I am...

Sh*t, I Caught Feelings

"When the dick touches the heart, it means that it's affected you not just physically, but emotionally," Amanda Seales. Single ladies, come right round with your glass of wine, and a box of tissues...those are for me. Damn, I slipped up for sure. Beyoncé wave! I'm in my feelings because I caught feelings. This one caught me off guard. I've been wearing that emotional condom for a while. Y'all know I'm a recovering 'f*ckboy' addict. Remember that last one did me dirty, and I allowed it. But thank God, I missed being attached to that idiot for a lifetime. Dodged a bullet with that one. Sigh of relief! Despite the pandemic, my love life has been less than boring. And with the empowerment of putting the eggs in different baskets, I have been in control of who and what makes my vagenda. I am still celibate, one year strong, hallelujah! It's been good for my spiritual life, mental health and my career. But in one of my few liaisons, I think that I ca...

Wayment....You Wanna What?

My gosh! In the week that my ovaries are screaming baby, I almost caught a nasty case of 'F*ckboy'... A.k.a he didn't earn this nookie! Bonjour my single ladies (Beyoncé wave). It's been a minute, hasn't it? Well, your girl is still trying to adjust to the 'new normal'. And well, I have been hitting brick walls with this writing thing. But I guess I was slightly amused so I have something to write about. Science has proven that when a woman is ovulating, she makes her most poor choices. She often copulates with alpha males, or the non-committal type for procreation. Not my handwriting. During my ovulation period, I came across a rather attractive young man. We know each other from circles. I complimented him on what I discovered as a new shared passion. Let's call this youngin' ' LaTrey '. So I have kinda liked LaTrey but it's not something I literally took into account. Look, he's been in a relationship, which was Instagram official...

Lately

Adolf Hitler once said, "If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed." So choose every lie with great caution otherwise you just fumble with your heart. At a sensitive time as the one we are in, why am I quoting one of history's most vile man? The quote has proved relevant in our era especially with political propaganda and even pop culture. We are literally tone-deaf because of mumble rap, and music without melody. This is because we are so accustomed to the lackluster musicality of today's pop stars on rotation. So it makes sense that an eight-year-old poltergeist would haunt my sensory. The proverbial Gotye's 'Somebody that I used to know'. He's been on my mind and I can't comprehend why. Of late the conflicting emotions of how I felt about him, and his rejection well up, that I shed a tear or two. Pour quoi? With Alicia Keys, "Why Do I Feel So Sad?", replaying in my mind as I go through the one conv...

Gotta Tell You

In the cliché of life being short, confessions of attraction towards your crush hurt less... ...than keeping it inside. Hello, my single ladies! Beyoncé wave! How are you doing? It's getting nippy on this side of the hemisphere. And there I was thinking that I would stock up on my winter clothes. Oh, well!   It's story time! I know we love going through each page of 'Single Ladies, the Quest for Mr. Put-a-Ring-On-it', and receiving a few pearls of wisdom. As I write every post in this series, the book's theme changes. Remember the time that we wanted so badly to become "Mrs." Now, every article is about healing, self-love, and growth. In addition, mental health is of great value, and it's our prerogative. This isn't just my journey; it's our journey. I love this space because, on this platform, y'all are my girlfriends. We hang out with our glasses of wine to chat. We can refer to pop culture and even real-life examples of our own ...

Crazy Thoughts Penned Down

So, I stalked him and read his writings... I'm intrigued! Now don't judge me...I think having so much free time on social media led me to curious lane. You know like that Ne-Yo, "I just wonder, do you ever...", but I'm not wondering about being an afterthought. But I won't lie, with good editing, grammar corrections, some of the 'blogs' are insightful. Well done! 👏 On the other hand, one of my guy friends wants to gift me with dildo. And he's straight! Should I be reading in between the lines? But then again, we aren't friends like that. But this then challenges the whole celibacy thing that I'm on. Like isn't masturbation a form of sex? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of remaining chaste? But bless him, I won't say no, when I receive the gift. And then my work is like scrambled eggs...mixed and all over the place. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm kind of OCD about organisation. To be honest, I get anxi...

Single Ladies: Thank You, Next!

I just had the most vivid dream about my high school crush ! I think I love him! But that's a conversation for another day. Hey single ladies, (Beyoncé wave)! How are you beautiful goddesses? I am fine thank you. The journey is so exciting and evolutionary. To imagine where we started from six years ago to date, the amount of internal change and personal growth. Like you, I'm still single, but I'm now single with a purpose. And I can safely say that I am ready for Mr Put-a-ring-on-it, and the whole shebang - flaws and all. Even my brother's girlfriend affirmed that I am a mature woman ready to settle down. But it's not the narrative for all the single ladies and that's okay! My older sister and I always have these conversations about personal growth and self love. She is a wellness and mental health consultant with a background in psychiatry. I am a work in progress with a nursing background, psychology and psychiatry included. I also use my personal e...

Love Jones Got Me On That Stage!

Happy Monday y'all, it's storytime! "Being of the fairer sex, I have been subjected to suppression,  but with this platform, I am subjected to self expression", I remember those words as if it was yesterday. It had been a two week practice of my debut spoken word piece. I stood there in front of both upcoming and seasoned women in the arts. The late Chiwoniso Maraire, and 'big sister', Dudu Manhenga were part of the crowd. Nerves hit me, fearing that words would regurgitate back to my core. I would forget to say what I needed to say. I had to say those words. On a day like this, I wanted to share something lighthearted and personal. Yes, last week was all sorts of heavy and even I felt overwhelmed as I delved into the status quo. Reminded by the article about how I started blogging ,I thought that I would share a story about another passion of mine. Poetry! Oh yes, I follow Maya Angelou, Warsan Shire, Ntozange Shange, Jeanette-ikz and many others. The o...
