Script My Life: Disney Princesses

"If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew." — Pocahontas

I have so many fond memories of my dad. He was like so super cool. And he was encouraging too.He always told us that we could do anything in this world and the sky was the limit to who we could be.The constant reminder I have is that he told me that I was a princess. Not just his,but a real princess.(And I do not doubt that the least bit.)-The Makings Of A Queen

It is almost every girl's dream to be a princess, and better yet,to get married to a prince. Two world famous ordinary girls who got that wish are, Princess Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, who got married to the heir to the British throne, Prince William; and Princess Charlene, a former South African Olympic swimmer, who got married to Prince Albert of Monaco. Lucky girls! (Don't you just hate them?). I'm all green with envy.

Talking about green, how many of you were excited about the first black Disney princess? Princess Tiana, from 'The Princess and the Frog'.To be honest I don't really understand the fuss, because Tiana spent the larger part of the movie as a green, slimy, (kind of cute), frog, and not a black princess. Either way, it was interesting though, to go (*in a Southern accent*),'down to the South, to New Orleans'. One of the places in the US, I've always been fascinated by because of the soul food, mardi gras and, ....voodoo.Sic!

So, script my life today is about my favourite animations, specifically, the Disney Princesses.Disney features have always been magical, and every single princess that I have watched brought a certain quality in one way or the other. Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, Mulan, Kayley, Pocahontas, Belle, Merida, Rapunzel and of course, Tiana. (Although an animal, I think that Kiara from 'Lion King 2', should also be on the list.)

These princesses were kind, bold, intelligent, free-spirited, hardworking, likeable and yes, beautiful. My favourites are Belle, because of her love for books; Jasmine for her free-spirit; Mulan for her boldness; and yes, Tiana, because of her ambition. The above describe me, and I relate more as I repeatedly watch the animations. Princesses do not need to be lazy, snobbish or spoilt, and it is a good thing that there are such good examples.(Although Snow White living with seven little men;or Aurora, (Sleeping Beauty), sleeping for years, (and y'all can she sleep); or even, Cinderella coming home at midnight, could count for as good examples). But that is just me.

Now thanks to real princesses Kate and Charlene, my faith in being a princess has increased. Being royal is no longer a thing of fairy tales, but can be a reality. *Sigh* Well, the sad part though, there aren't that many 'kingdoms' in this world and even fewer princes. (In Africa, almost non-existant). *sniff, sniff*

But my script is not about finding a 'prince' in particular, (after kissing so many frogs), I will probably continuously sing, 'Some day my Prince will come'. (Hopefully in this lifetime). My script is about the transition from being a princess to being a Queen. It is about being a woman of influence, virtue and substance.

There is a lot that comes with 'royalty'. It is about sacrifice, being in balance and making a real difference. And it takes a lot to 'rule' over a kingdom. (Your space is your kingdom).

'Every little girl is a princess;and a queen in waiting.'-The Makings Of A Queen

Disney princesses will always be my favourite fantasy that inspire my reality.

P.S: Always write your own love story.

Ciao!

Single ladies: Wife material

MPV.....my point of view! Single Ladies: Wifen Material *Royal wave*Hey single ladies, your guide is back. The pursuit for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It is on.Today I would like to make you a get-a-ring-on-it lady. Now following my articles,'Single Ladies Part 3',where I talked about the prince searching for a 'real princess',or 'Queen';and 'Brown Sugar',where the word 'brown sugar' was defined as wifen material,I would like to talk about 'wifey material'.(Whether we are that). How do we single ladies get that ring-on-it,you ask?By being wifey material. My uncle keeps on telling me,'If you want to become Mrs X,you should be a wife. You are a wife before he puts a ring on it'.What he means is that,a man will treat you the way you portray yourself. How,you ask? Ever noticed the difference between a wife and a girlfriend. Now let me break it down for you.A girlfriend usually, takes life in a more leisurely way;unlike a wife, whose focus is mo...

Script My Life: A Fall From Grace

I finally watched 'A Fall From Grace'.... And I don't know what y'all were complaining about, this flick was great! I am currently working from home during these perilous times of the terrifying COVID 19. The company that I work for made a conscious decision to protect its employees by permitting social distancing via staying at home. While I don't mind working in my pyjamas, this isolation would be ideal in a country with reliable electricity, a stable economy and adequate food supply. Please feel free to send donations, plus I need to make my rent, otherwise... A few months later, I finally got to view Tyler Perry’s, "A Fall From Grace". Premiered exclusively on Netflix, the film is a suspense/thriller written, produced, directed and starring Tyler Perry. Impressively, the film was shot in five days, clearly on a minimal budget. Perry is synonymous with featuring in his own movies from the Madea franchise, to 'Why Did I Get Married?', a...

Single Ladies: Independence vs Submission

'If you liked it, then you should put a ring on it/If you liked it,then you should put a ring on it.....',* Beyoncé wave *, hey ladies!Don't you think that we single ladies should have a get-together, and get all Sasha-fierce?*wink* Yes.The quest for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It continues. As I have shared throughout this series, that in our search,we are also preparing ourselves.(Remember wifen material). Now in this series written by yours truly, and inspired by the not-so single,'single lady', Beyoncé Knowles. (That is Mrs Carter to you), we go through some 'character' training and preparation to get to, 'I do'. Hmm.Mrs Carter. She seems to sing a lot of these female empowering songs about being beautiful, strong and independent.Ironically, Mrs Carter when she's at home with Jay, she is different; she is to be precise, submissive. Ladies, today we discuss being miss independent versus the submissive wife. (I can already see some of y'all screwing...

Script My Life: The Kissing Booth 2

Wayment...there's a 'Kissing Booth 3'? I finally watched the highly anticipated sequel to the Netflix original, 'The Kissing Booth'. Picking up from where we left off, Noah is at Havard University, while Elle and Lee are high school seniors. Elle narrates the events that occurred during the summer break. She highlights her relationship with Noah, college application and Lee's relationship with Rachel. The cast remains the same with Joey King as Elle Evans, Joel Courtney as Lee Flynn and Jacob Elordi as Noah Flynn. In addition we have Molly Ringwald as Sarah Flynn, Meganne Young as Rachel, Taylor Zakhar Perez as Marco Penã, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Chloe Winthrop. Elle is adjusting to the idea of a long distance relationship with Noah. She becomes the third wheel in Lee and Rachel's relationship. The film starts with Elle narrating her time with Noah before he leaves for Harvard. Her senior year starts with her classmates gossiping how she and Noah wil...

Just Another Monday!

Looking at my nails and how I’ve made a meal out of them… I need a break! The past three weeks have been extremely exhausting to say the least. I decided to come to this platform to somewhat, somehow distress. Writing is often cathartic even to an absent audience. I’m just tired! Sections of my skin are eczematous and I even suffered a breakdown last week. God, I wish it were hormones but it’s just being overwhelmed.  I am tired – physically, financially, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I have nothing to give. That empty jar that cannot pour out anymore. I’m sometimes emotionally numb…. I just want to sleep and never wake up. I keep absorbing the negativity from my timeline on social media. Unfortunately, it’s my job to be online. With my skills I have to work triple in curating and creating content. In short, I’m online all the time. But it’s depressing me. You know how baby boomers describe millennials…I’m that millennial! And with that said it makes it even more dif...
