Ain't No Gold Digger

"(She take my money)/Now I ain't saying she a gold digger/(When I'm in need)/But she ain't messing with no broke niggas...."- Kanye West featuring Jamie Foxx (Man, that was a good jam. Kanye at his prime) "A man can lose money chasing women but he will never lose women chasing money",he said. (Ironically,he's slept with a lot of women in the city, still chases them, dunno about him having money). And some girl claims he's a gentleman.(My foot!).It amazes me how the males, especially 'famous' males,in this country, have this mentality that every female they meet wants their money. What money?(You haven't met real money until you have 'Sheikh money' a.k.a 'Arab money'.Ask Janet). And in my head I'm thinking,''what the....'',*raised eyebrow*,really??My response,"But one woman can make a man a millionaire.''Yes,truth be told,no woman wants to be a 'broke' guy,(love is good but,m...

The Biggest Loser

MPV.....my point of view! The Biggest Loser 'Does my bum look small in this?'.Years ago, this question would have been such a positive thing but these days it is not.It is the new 'insecurity' amongst women who do not fit into the criteria of 'bootylicious'. Anyone remember the weight watching reality television program,'The Biggest Loser'?The individual who lost the most weight, won a cash prize. For the longest time people, especially women, strive to be stick thin like runway models because that was the in thing. The common 'insecurity' question was,'Does my bum look big in this?'(and if you are a guy you would have to answer with a 'No',if you knew what was good for you). That is why eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia where on the rise, like a plague.People still suffer from eating disorders in effort to be like runway models. It does not help that the women voted as the sexiest woman alive look like hungry, third wor...

Mutual Stalking

MPV.....my point of view! Mutual Stalking. My sister is a genius.(Oxford please take this down). She has come up with a new term,'mutual stalking'.The definition:when individuals are keeping tabs on each other without directly communicating with one another.(Ummm, okay). Mutual stalking. Is there such a thing? Can individuals stalk each other;and actually know about what the other person is doing.Yes,it is possible.Though I find it rather juvenile, cowardly and of course, darn creepy. Mutual stalkers are constantly up to date with each others lives. They know the movement of the next person, where they have been,or are going, their health status, their mood.Okay this sounds like a very dysfunctional relationship. Why stalk somebody? If one feels they 'need' to be in touch with somebody, why not just call the other person, text them,or,pay them a visit.Apparently I am in a 'mutual stalking relationship',(oh,heeell no!).First of all,I do not stalk. If I want to talk t...

Single Ladies:The Lady And The Tramp

"All the single ladies, all my single ladies, all the single ladies....put your hands up...'',ladieees!*wave*I am back.Yes Lady E,your guide in our quest for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It. I think as we have been going through this series,we are learning a thing or two about our potentials and ourselves.'Charity begins at home',a cliche saying but I believe that if we take care of ourselves,in terms of personality and grooming, those church bells are not so far-fetched from ringing.(Don't you just love the sound of the word ''ring''?). Today,we are going to get groomed. If you recall the article where we asked the gentlemen out there what they defined as wifey material.I think we need to clarify this because we just might hit the jackpot,if we take appropriate measures. We discussed the issue of appearance versus perception, where Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It might have the wrong perception of single lady because she might not meet ''wifey'' ...

If I Were A Boy

MPV.....my point of view! If I Were A Boy 'What if I,had a thing on the side/Made you cry/Would the roles change,or would they still apply/If I,played you like a toy/Sometimes I wish I didn't act like a boy...'-Like A Boy,Ciara. Like a boy,my favourite Ciara song.(The one that makes me want a penis).I was dancing to it during my dance session this morning.(And burnt my knees whilst doing the slide). Boys. They run the world.Boys get away with everything. They make all the rules on everything in life.It sucks!Ladies are you not tired of it.Because no matter how many female empowering songs we sing,'Who run the world.....girls!',it is still a man's world.(One that could use some castration). I do try to understand male behaviour,(because,I was raised by a man,and I have a lot of brothers).I have been reading books on male behaviour including Tyrese and Rev Run's,'Manology',but there are some behaviours that perplex me about the male species.(And...

Single Ladies: The Boy

MPV.....my point of view! Single Ladies:The Boy *Beyonce wave*Single ladies! How have you been?Has any one of us found Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It amongst our potential candidates?Do not fret, your guide is here. Hmmm, has anyone met a boy.I mean literary,a boy.Well he is ehmm, man number 4.I personally,am not a fan of 'boys'.(I am more into mature males).Anyway,Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It can be anyone so I will not rule out the 'boy'. The boy is the one, irregardless of age,who most likely is living with his parents,(or if you are lucky, alone in a 'bachelor pad'),and behaves young, wild and free.He tends to be carefree and needs someone to pick up after him.(Needs a babysitter and maid). The ups of boy, fun, fun, fun. You will feel like a teenage girl, exploring the world. For a few minutes all your cares, are taken away.He has little baggage from the past,(unlike divorced man).No baby mama drama,(although if he is a 'mama's boy',you will have his mama to deal with *s...

Script my life: Madea's Family Reunion

This movie gets me all the time...*pulls out tissue* *Sniff, sniff*,"...I love you past past my mind...beyond my heart..., I love you from my soul, And that's the space where only you and God dwell", Frankie, Madea's family reunion. Am I the only one who becomes all mushy when they watch the wedding scene from this movie? (My favourite scene in the entire movie.) To hear such words being said to you, I  guess it's every girl's dream! 'Madea's Family Reunion' is one of my favourite Tyler Perry movies but in a way, it gets me a little depressed. Where does a girl find ''Frankie"? (especially one as good-looking as Boris Kodjoe). A simple man who loves you in spite of your "past". I mean a genuine love. The movie touches on several subjects including gender-based violence, rape, family unity and second chances. I feel very protective of my daughter, when I think about how Vanessa's mother, Victoria, used Vanessa as a l...

Copyright

MPV.....my point of view! Copycat I recall the time when I got punished during my first week of high school,(form one) for 'copying'.Actually,I was helping a friend draw the Egyptian hieroglyphics for our history homework.(Not such a good idea).Anyway we did our punishment, and my friend and I are still very good friends. Copying.Something that most of us have probably done, especially in school, with homeworks and assignments.I only did that when I was too lazy to think,(didn't get caught),but I was smart, and preferred to be the author of my own work.Copying is a bad practice. Thou shalt refrain from copying. People have no respect for "[c]Copyright All Rights Reserved''.I put it on all my work yet I still find other people plagiarizing my stuff,or using,(without my consent),as content for their own work.Seriously??How low can you go?Yes,this is a public forum, but because I have reserved rights to my writing,ne touche pas.(Or at least be decent enough to g...

The School of life

Hello world ! My name is Lady E and I am here!  Beyonce's 'I Was Here' would be a name of the list of people who left their mark on the world and I will be on it! I am here, not yet a graduate of the School of Life, but bearing the scars of life,(well learnt lessons). I had an epiphany over the weekend.  If I am to entitle my autobiography, I would call it '[c] The Makings Of A Queen'. Yes, I am the Queen of my Empire. I am a work in progress, there is still so much to learn, but I am finally where I am supposed to be.(And from here on I am working towards where I am going).  Yes, I do admit that I have complained that my life should have gone in the 'order' that I wanted it to go, but of late, it has dawned on me, had it gone my way, I probably wouldn't have known what I know now. The school of life teaches us what no school,or university or college can teach.Education can equip people to be smart and technical, but the practicality of life is way d...

New Money

MPV.....my point of view! Nouveau Riche On the subject of moving from being a broke girl to being a rich queen,it kind of makes me wonder if I will ever change when the money rolls in?I mean with money comes new 'friends',(fake ones on top of that),new acquired tastes in clothing, hangout places, eating habits, actually a person's whole lifestyle changes. Will I become pompous and arrogant towards those people who were with me during my journey to the top?Hmm.Will I behave like a 'new money' a.k.a munhu anovhunduka magetsi.A new money by definition is an individual who joins the social upper class elite by virtue of acquiring wealth in life via work e.g business, fame or by marriage,or inheritance. *Sigh*I do not like new monies.I am not bragging, but I am what you call,an old money.I do not really feel the need to share the wealth and fame I was born into.Actually,I am far from being snobbish,or picky,or even arrogant.I was raised, and I am a firm believer in work...

Script My Life: 2 Broke Girls

When talent meets determination...anything can happen! Believe it or not,I have been kind of blank on what to write today, but since I love television, my script is from one of my favourite sitcoms, 2 Broke Girls. This TV show actually inspired me to really pursue my dream of being an 'media mogul',(I will get there eventually) .the one most valuable lesson I have learnt from 2 Broke Girls is "a dollar can build an empire". Max and Caroline are two, yes, broke girls living in New York, (there is something about the Big Apple), and working as waitresses. They have a dream of owning a cupcake shop. The plan. They sell their cupcakes, to get the capital. They are not waiting for a large some of money to start their business, but with every cent they make, with the little they have, they are a step towards their dream. At my church, our pastor preached the first sermon series called, "Whatcha gonna do with whatcha have?". I was challenged.I do not have a mill...

Single ladies: Wife material

MPV.....my point of view! Single Ladies: Wifen Material *Royal wave*Hey single ladies, your guide is back. The pursuit for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It is on.Today I would like to make you a get-a-ring-on-it lady. Now following my articles,'Single Ladies Part 3',where I talked about the prince searching for a 'real princess',or 'Queen';and 'Brown Sugar',where the word 'brown sugar' was defined as wifen material,I would like to talk about 'wifey material'.(Whether we are that). How do we single ladies get that ring-on-it,you ask?By being wifey material. My uncle keeps on telling me,'If you want to become Mrs X,you should be a wife. You are a wife before he puts a ring on it'.What he means is that,a man will treat you the way you portray yourself. How,you ask? Ever noticed the difference between a wife and a girlfriend. Now let me break it down for you.A girlfriend usually, takes life in a more leisurely way;unlike a wife, whose focus is mo...

Trends

Trends 'That is like so last year!',if I hear that statement one more time,I'm going to slap somebody.(sic!).It is an interesting human condition though,to conform.(More like mental enslavement). If one is not doing,or thinking,or behaving the way the mass population is,then they are 'uncool','weird',or 'backward'(so 2000 and late). It seems that the human race spends most of their lifetime trying to clone themselves into the other 7billion people on this planet. I used to be one of those people, until I realised that no matter what I do,I will never fit in or be like everyone.(Which I am now okay with, for as long as I make my mark on the world). Trends.Fashion, music, lifestyle, politics, technology, everything has a trend.Remember how there were records, then tapes, then cds,now you can get all your music on your ipod,or memory card. With hairdos, there was the afro, then jerry curl,(MJ rocked that one best),braids, then guys either tinted their hair...

The X-Factor

MPV.....my point of view! Trends:Talent Shows Ever watched a tv show, only to feel completely useless after that.Look at it this way,an 8 year old belts out ''i will always love you",or a 14 year old who can play seven musical instruments at one goal,or the plus size woman who can dance to any musical genre and does better splits than a cheerleader.Seriously??? I think that one of the most fascin ating reality tv shows are the talent shows.Something's Got Talent,So You Think You Can Dance?,The Clash of The Choirs and The X-Factor,amongst other programmes.YEP.this world has got some talented people and it kind of sucks if you do not have even a centimetre of that talent. I think the worst thing about these shows are the judges.Simon Cowell anyone? The meanest judge in tv history.I always wait to hear what Simon says about the individual auditioning before I comment on how talented that individual is.But yeas if an individual is good, they are really good.I was happy when S...

Single Ladies: Choc or Vanilla

All that talk about brown sugar yesterday, suddenly gave me a toothache, (Yeah, Dre, I heard you loud and clear!). Anyway, still on that subject of sweet things, ladies, chocolate, mocha or vanilla? As we pursue our quest for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It,I am placing another option for us, getting a man outside our own race. (If you are cocoa you go for latte  and vice versa). Bachelor number 3: The Foreigner. On set of a production that I am working on, one of the ladies, (mixed race), was telling me how she has never dated a black man. It actually got me thinking, maybe I too, should fish in foreign waters. Why not, I have always been considered a coconut. My sisters have been telling me (for the longest time), that maybe I should get me a white man, or of the Caucasian persuasion because I think that I have failed with black 'men', and maybe I should *thinking*. I love my chocolate, but I do love the scent of vanilla. What are the advantages of dating outside one's race? First ...

King of Sorrow

King Of Sorrow.   These kids grow like they are on fertiliser,(me thinking that my daughter needs new shoes),whilst preparing her for school, this morning. My mind then drifted to the video to Sade's song,'King Of Sorrow'.(The part when she is washing her kid's shoes). In the video,Sade potrays a struggling single mother who tries to balance everything,'I want to cook you s oup that warms your soul'.(And she does it in style.A 'hot' mum running in heels, with her kids). King of sorrow.A beautiful, but sad song, one of my favourites.I relate to the song and the video, all too well. And the song, just made me think of single mothers. How many of you single mummies carry the burdens of others before your own?How many try their best to give their children a decent life?Who,like Sade in the video,(she sings in a club),tries to spare time to pursue their own dreams? 'I'm crying everyone's tears/I have already paid for my future sins...'.If only the wor...

Like A Love Song

The best ever written love song isn't perfect but it works! 'I,I love you like a love song baby,I,I love you like a love song,babe.....',young Selena Gomez singing, and vocalising what we would all take love as...a LOVE song. The love song. Women can only dream about being loved the way Gerald Levert put it,'made to love you', or have 'this love' a la Donell Jones. And I'm not talking about the exaggerated 'catching of grenades','crossing oceans',drinking of lovers' bath waters. But a love that leaves one gasping for air as they try to breathe in,a love that gives one warm fuzzy feelings inside.A love that also stands the test of time, and conquers all. But is the impression we are given by love songs similar to real relationships?Would a man not want to be 'mad' like Ne-yo, or beg you to 'stay' like Tyrese? Some may agree, whilst others would be at the other end of the pole. In the mean time men might find Beyonc...

Chocolate!

Oogling and drooling as I lust after the delicious, yummy chocolate abs of...gush...Trey Songz in a music video. My male friends look at me as if I'm some perverted male...maybe I am. Sadly as a woman such men are just a mirage in a desert full of pot bellied men.Yes,I said it!I believe I speak on behalf of my sisters, who have been termed 'overambitious',and having high standards in the looks department. We would love to see more abs and less flab. Why our brothers keep mount Everests of flesh I fail to understand.Worse still, men boobs that could hold shares in a dairy company. Who would blame me.I become a pervert because Usher's six-pack makes me want to eat of it,or I'm actually envious of Generations' Queen Moroka having 'Muscle man' Lungile, hold her in his arms.Yes,guilty as charged! What my brothers should understand is most women already have stuffed toys,a new addition in the form of a man is not adorable.A little working out w...
