Dirty Laundry Diaries: The Journey

My Beloved Mr. X   Dear Mr. X  You told me about this journey, a journey you embarked on, hoped that it would go on. You got into your car and you drove and she was on the passenger side; you headed for your destination. But the car broke down, the tyre went flat, and you both couldn't agree. You told her to wait, whilst you fixed the car, but she went on the other side of the road to catch another ride. Someone should have said, slow down, you will crash, and you will drive off the hill. Slow, you will burn; you will hit the wall.  Slow down, because you were an accident waiting to happen, or maybe a car going nowhere. Slow down; think about it before you take this journey. I was waiting on the highway, hoping to hitch a ride. Then you stopped your car, you smiled at me and your eyes seemed so kind. You opened the door and said let’s go, so I jumped right in and sat on the passenger’s side. It felt so right for you and me to be on this journey, actually, I though...

The Dirty Laundry Diaries: Colour Me Human

Welcome to the dirty laundry diaries where I shame the name and not name shame…but if the shoe fits…lace that shoe up! The Tar Baby versus Yellow Bone Syndrome In the first edition of the dirty laundry diaries, I would like to deal with a rather unkempt, so-called, R&B singer, who by the way annoys the heck out of me and his self-esteem issues. I’m no saint in the issues of esteem but this child, yes child, attempts to be an adult, yet he barely knows what adulthood is, or manhood for that fact, except through the ‘douchebag’ gang he hangs out with. So this child is a representation of some of the things that I'm not fond of people of my race, (yes, I am black myself), and their inferiority complexes. This child ‘ be-gods ’- make deity of another mortal; raise another human being to the position of God, the Creator of the Universe; and believe me, (in a Kardashian voice), “It’s so annoying”. Let's call him Toz (short for tozotaura 'we will speak') with t...

Dirty Laundry Diaries: Last Friday Night...

Last Friday Night... After a long hiatus from this blog, I've decided to make my return but this time with a vengeance...lol! So as part of my comeback, my blog has changed slightly a bit, same girl but different ish! (The vocabulary has become very colorful!) So my weekend was too cold to freeze a.k.a chilled for my liking but I managed to get the amount of rest that my weary body deserved. So what happened last Friday night, other than playing the third wheel with my sister and her man? Nothing much! But in line with the title of today's blog, I'll share what happened the last Friday of the last. These days I have ditched friends and have gone all family and that is how I roll. So my best friend who happens to be my younger sister, went out for our Friday drinks at our favourite spot in town. (Totally love the ambiance and the deejays are quite cute-one being hotter than the other and they play an amazing set of deep house music). Before I go on, t...

The Hook-Up

Rating-For the Grown&Sexy Even intelligent people have their 'blonde' moments. I think that individuals should look up certain words and terminologies before they decide to embark, or indulge in certain activities. (Even urban lingo has a dictionary). 'You burn, you learn.I learnt that the hard way'. This is the class. The word for today is 'hook up'. What is a hook up? According to the Urban dictionary, definition 1.To receive a good favour or service.; 2.To make out with someone; 3.To have sex with someone.(Hmm). Ever seen a fish hook? Ever gone fishing or watched people fish? There is a little worm that is placed at the end of the hook that is used to attract the fish. Bait! Now, to all y'all who do, or agree to 'hook ups', have you ever questioned the 'agenda' of the so-called 'fairy godmothers' or 'friends' who are hooking you up? I am not talking about definition 1., where you get VIP access to a function,...

Script My Life: Why Did I Get Married,Too?

There is nothing as challenging as trying to stick to a script when acting, (and that is why I do not act), and it is even much harder in real life. I have been scripting my own life, yet at times I do not even know where the story line is going.(I keep on missing the plot). So today I continue with my life script in Tyler Perry's, ' Why Did I Get Married ?' Last time I highlighted the reasons why people should get married. And the sequel is pretty much the same, only that in this plot, someone dies at the end. 'Why did I get Married,Too?', is much more intense than the first movie. I often find myself in between being torn to stitches with laughter by Angela's paranoia and being gripped by hurt over the breakdown of Patricia and Gavin's 'perfect' marriage. This time, the four couples are reunited at sunny Bahamas for their annual retreat. Now Sheila has loving husband, Troy; Dianne and Terry had a son; Patricia and Gavin still have no child...

Single Ladies: The Metrosexual

*Riding on a black horse* (I wish).* BeyoncĂ©  wave* 'Hey single ladies!'. For a lady on a quest, the horse would have been ideal, right? Anyway ,how have y'all been? I hope the lessons that we are going through are helping us build character. (Wifen material). Today we have yet another bachelor under our radar. So we have so far, gone through our potential Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It who has been bachelor; the widower, the divorcee, the foreigner, the boy and last but not least, the single dad. Not so bad ladies. Now bachelor number six is,the metrosexual. Now why should we place such a man on our panel, you ask? Well,he is my personal favourite *wink*. The anatomy of a metrosexual. By definition a metrosexual is an urban man with a disposable income who spends a lot on his appearances. In other words, a guy's guy who is in touch with his inner pink. Now why would a metrosexual be a good candidate for Mr Put-A-Ring-On-It? He is not. Most metrosexual men, if not gay, or...

Return to innocence

And she looks at me with puppy-dog eyes. How do you discipline such a child? My child had just poured a large amount of my lotion into the water container. And like any child her age, without a rationale. *sigh* Now, as a parent, I try to move more towards the verbal form of discipline, where I explain to my little one why she should not do certain things, rather than the rod. Although the rod is still very good as it keeps a child in check. Remember,'spare the rod and spoil the child.' Children.*gush*. The innocence. Their wild imaginations and miscellaneous mischief, mostly impulsive. I think that almost every parent has two nightmares, either a)they find the house turned into a circus or jungle with broken glasses, furniture, gadgets, etc, or b)the worst. Their child is taken to hospital for a broken bone, or, two, or worse. (Okay. I will stop right there. I do not want to get all y'all parents paranoid or having heart attacks). Talking about heart attacks, I almos...
